Legal Aid
Within Care Proceedings, parents with Parental Responsibility are automatically eligible for Legal Aid in almost all Care Proceedings. Legal Aid may also be available to other family members subject to their financial circumstances. Legal Aid is also often available for Local Authority involvement pre-proceedings (such as Public Law Outline matters) but in some instances is means tested.
Generally, there is no cost to you to receive expert advice and assistance should you find yourself in need of legal advice at a police station. If you are then charged with committing a criminal offence you may be eligible for Legal Aid much will depend on the crime you are accused of and the impact it has upon you.
We will ensure that where there is a possibility you may qualify for Legal Aid, we will undertake a full assessment to determine your eligibility.
If you do not qualify for Legal Aid, we offer a range of funding options for you in an effort to keep costs down – we offer fixed fees on the majority of work we cover and we can offer payment plans in certain circumstances.
