Private Client Legal Assistant

We are looking for a Private Client Legal Assistant to join our Blyth team to support the Wills, Probate and Estate Administration Department across our three offices.

Legal Assistants are integral to the success of the business, providing Lawyers with essential and pro-active support.

The successful candidate will benefit from working alongside experienced practitioners and a friendly and supportive team where each individual is encouraged to strive to fulfil their individual professional development goals, within a firm that puts their clients at the heart of what they do.


Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  1. Drafting of Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney
  2. Assist their line manager by being an additional point of contact for clients
  3. Managing the day-to-day running of Estate Administration matters
  4. Undertake certain elements of chargeable work under supervision as allocated by Directors and other fee earners
    Deal with chasing of clients and third parties
  5. Be the first point of contact for the department’s initial enquiries over the telephone and face-to-face and provide cost information to the client;
  6. Open electronic files following receipt of instructions from the client.
  7. Assist with maintaining electronic and physical files so they remain compliant and up-to-date
  8. Preparing correspondence and documents through audio typing and word processing
  9. Ensuring the confidentiality and security of all the firm’s and client documentation and information
  10. Open and scan in post for the office;
  11. Maintain adequate supplies and resources for the office

 

Essential qualifications, skills and experience:

  1. Have recent knowledge and experience working within a busy Wills and Probate department within the legal sector
  2. Have strong communication and client care skills to ensure our clients receive an efficient, reliable and friendly service over the telephone, in written correspondence and face-to-face
  3. Demonstrate initiative and be flexible and proactive in their support to the department and the wider office team
  4. Have strong organisational skills to manage their own workload whilst managing their line manager’s diary
  5. Demonstrate attention to detail and have excellent typing skills
  6. Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Digital Dictation
  7. Be a team player but also be able to work autonomously
  8. Be passionate about law and have a strong work ethic
  9. Be available to work Monday-Friday 9:00-17:00
  10. Have a full, clean driving licence.
